Department of Chemistry of School of Science of Beijing Jiaotong University was established in 2006. Presently there are 18 staff, 3 professors, 8 associate professors, 4 lecturers, 1 experiment technology expert, and 2 personnel of other specialized fields; nine out of all have studied abroad.
Department of chemistry relies on materials chemistry to carry out disciplines construction in the field of inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, applied chemistry, and develop new research directions; at the same time department of chemistry established undergraduate major of materials chemistry. Department of chemistry had made many research achievements in new energy material, environment friendly material, fine chemicals, organic synthesis, functional nano-materials and optoelectronic devices, hazardous material detection, dangerous chemicals safety transportation etc. At present, laboratories of inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, hazard identification, energy and the environment have been completed with a total area of more than 800 square meters. In the recent five years, the department of chemistry chaired and was responsible for more than 10 national and provincial level projects, 100 projects funded from companies, with a total research budget of 10,000,000 yuan, more than 80 published papers on SCI and 18 patents of invention.
At present, "optical properties and application of nano functional materials direction is admitting PhD student;ScScSccsecond disciplines
Secondary disciplines of "Chemical engineering and technology" and "materials chemistry and physics" can grant master's degrees; "Materials Chemistry" is recruiting undergraduate students. Students can sign in joint programs of the school of science and the University of Waterloo in Canada, University of Minnesota, University of Birmingham, and other overseas university projects.
Department of chemistry and related scientific research institutions and enterprises established training centers and laid substantial foundations for experiment teaching and scientific practice work of the department. Department of chemistry has fostered long-term cooperation relations with universities and local research institutions in USA, France, Japan, and Britain, and conduct regular academic exchanges with national and foreign experts and scholars.
