Converge Intelligence, Produce Top Creative Researchers
Starting in 2005, the “Siyuan program” is the interdisciplinary experimental education reform program of Beijing Jiaotong University. Depending on superior disciplines and two national engineering basic course education bases and cultural quality education bases, the ultimate design of this program lays in fostering the development of student’s practical ability, creative spirit and research capacity. With the “three organic combinations” of scientific research and training, theoretical studying and practical education, knowledge impartment and self-learning, and the “2+2” education model, this program aimed to nurture internationally competitive students with healthy personality, profound basic knowledge, broad horizon, huge potential, strong creativity, excellent synthetic qualities and leadership in research and management.
Reinforce Math and Physics, Encourage Unique Personalities
During freshmen and sophomore years, courses emphasize general knowledge and edification of the humanities. On the basis of educating students with comprehensive development in moral, intelligence and sports, the program enhances math and physics education, fosters abstract thinking and outstanding foundations in the application of math and physics. After their freshmen year, if the student cannot adept to the path of this program, they can be transfer to ordinary undergraduate programs with the advice of experts. Starting from their senior years, students can choose majors based on their own interests and needs and complete specialized courses with individualized education plans.
Directed by Masters, Distinguished by Specialty
Main courses are taught by exceptional teachers, who advocate research education to enhance students to finish specialty training and self-learning. Since the second term of freshmen year, mentors will provide specific guidance on course selection, learning strategies and future directions. Senior students can even start “Thesis research courses” that can encourage scientific spirit and curiosity in research. Students can also participate into their mentor’s projects and develop their own interests. As long as they fill requirements of recommendation and exam-exemption, outstanding students can acquire qualifications of pursuing Master’s Degree and Doctorate Degrees without entrance exams. During their studies, students can also choose among the various joint programs with Waterloo University and Minnesota University to enlarge their horizon. |
